Applying Analysis

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

Course: Leasing & Marketing Workshop

Performance Context

  • Managerial Support - The primary learners will be college-aged -paraprofessional staff members. They will be taught by managers of the property and the corporate Leasing Directors. The managers will be available for help during the workshop itself and will administer follow-up checks to ensure the information was received and understood.

  • Physical Aspects - The physical site will be the property (1000 bed student housing apartment complex) that the training is focused on how to market and lease. The staff works in a leasing office with access to computers for the leasing tasks. The property is part of the University campus that it is attached to. The workshop will be delivered about mid-semester (October). If possible, the training will be delivered in-person in the property clubhouse. The learners will be able to break out into small groups during the workshop. If in-person is not possible, it will be delivered via Zoom; breakout groups via Zoom will still be utilized.

  • Social Aspects - Learners will primarily work in small groups, however, some of the training will be with the larger group. When they are using their skills after the workshop, they will mostly be alone, either with a tour, on the phone, or creating social media marketing content. They will not be the first to use these skills, however, often this is their first job so even basic skills, like public speaking, are still be developed.

  • Relevance of Skills - The workshop content is one of the primary function of the learner's job. The motivational constraint can be that learner's often find this part of the job the least exciting.

Learning Context

  • Nature of Site - There is one site for this workshop - the apartment complex or property. The property has computer access, internet, clubhouse (open space) with kitchen, outdoor space, and leasing office. It is A/C controlled. There is not a chalkboard or smart board to use, however, there are TVs for presentations.

  • Instructional Requirements - The computer technology is all easily compatible (Macs). The difficulty could lie with the corporate leasing director as they must travel from the other side of the state and their schedule is dependent on other properties doing a similar training.

  • Compatibility of the Site With the Learner Needs - The site has adequate space for all learners (10) and enough technology resources for everyone if needed.

  • Feasibility for Simulating the Workplace - The training environment includes the model room and leasing office which is where the work will actually take place.

I think that this training has a lot of resource support. There is plenty of physical space to learn in the actual environment of the work. There is also plenty of access to technology resources if needed. The only limited resource is the corporate trainer, however, the managers will have been trained to the same level as the corporate trainer and they will be available before, during, and after the training itself.
